When Everyday Citizens Get Mad
A New American Tea Party: The Counterrevolution Against Bailouts, Handouts, Reckless Spending, and More Taxes By John M. O’Hara

A sign of cultural lag among the mainstream media is the refusal to deal with the gap they have left for others, such as Rush Limbaugh, to fill. Rather than confront their biases and report all sides of an issue, they explain away the continuing appeal of the radio host because of the entertainment factor and not any intellectual connection. This bias, which is in reality a set of blinders, dates from 1972, when Pauline Kael, longtime New Yorker film critic, said she couldn’t believe Nixon won because “nobody I know voted for him.” [more...]

Since February 2009, hundreds of thousands of Americans have taken the initiative to organize in towns and cities across the nation in protest of the swift, radical expansions of the size and scope of government. These protests of government intervention and intrusion have been met with great controversy. The tea partiers are leading a revolution demanding accountability from our government.
The author of the new book A NEW AMERICAN TEA PARTY (with a foreword by Michlle Malkin) John M. O’Hara was there at the beginning of the movement helping to sow the seeds of this popular uprising. O’Hara is one of millions of Americans that have helped shape and permanently change the political landscape of this country.
“Like our republic, this movement’s power is derived from the people and its momentum is carried by the people, by individual Americans concerned with the future of our nation.” – John M. O’Hara
A NEW AMERICAN TEA PARTY is an insider’s account on the history of the modern day tax tea parties, the principles they are grounded in, and their future agenda. A young rising star in the center-right movement, O’Hara brings a fresh, witty perspective on the principles behind the tea parties and the steps that lay ahead to bring those principles to bear in the political process.

In his chapter “Radical Ideas,” O’Hara writes, “The spending spree begun in the Bush administration and carried on by the Obama administration was the first part of a radical and swift two-wave expansion of the size and scope of government. The philosophy that informed said spending and the policy moves that followed were the first sparks of the impending tea party counterrevolution.” From Obamanomics, i.e., “spreading the wealth around,” to today’s huge deficit – the tea party is mad and wants the spending to stop!
