Congress Tenaciously Determined to Bail Out Teachers Unions

If only they were as determined to cut spending.  Alas, Congressional Democrats are hell-bent on taking care of their friends in the teachers unions. The original $23 billion “Education Jobs Fund,” or “public schools bailout,” in the words of American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten, fizzled, despite earnest lobbying by both the AFT and the larger National Education Association. That number was trimmed to $10 billion and inserted into the Afghanistan War spending bill in a cynical maneuver cooked up by Big Labor. While that passed the House, word is emerging that the pork-laden war bill isn’t going anywhere in the Senate. But Big Labor’s pals aren’t giving up.  They’re a tenacious bunch that will find one way or another to continue spending oodles more on a bloated system that’s under serving America’s children. One of the most underreported stories is the impending health crisis begat by our open border policies.  As D.C. politicians posture,  criminals, terrorists, drugs, and weapons flow freely into the country through our Mexican border, which has deteriorated into an anarchical combat zone. In the fervor of the immediate battle, scant attention is directed at the long-term damage being done to American citizens at the hands of feckless politicians. The next politician who bombasts about national health care for illegals to bring them “out of the shadows” should be forced to spend an entire day at an ER or urgent care center in any sanctuary city.  [more...]

 

 

Family of Margaret Thatcher Upset at Upcoming Meryl Streep Movie

A new biopic called “Iron Lady” about the life of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has her children horrified, according to the U.K. Telegraph. The movie, which stars Meryl Streep, depicts the legendary leader and close colleague of beloved President Ronald Reagan as a dementia sufferer who looks back at her life with sadness. “Sir Mark and Carol [Thatcher’s children] are appalled at what they have learned about the film,” a friend of the family said. “They think it sounds like some Left-wing fantasy. They feel strongly about it, but will not speak publicly for fear of giving it more publicity.” Reportedly, the screenplay has scenes in it that show Thatcher talking to herself and unaware that her husband, Sir Denis Thatcher, has passed away.
