Root is Elected to Libertarian National Committee
Wayne Allyn Root, 2008 Libertarian Vice Presidential nominee, was elected to the Libertarian National Committee on Sunday at the Libertarian National Convention in St Louis. Root was the leading vote-getter – finishing first among a field of 13 candidates, including former National Chairman Bill Redpath, Founder of the Libertarian Party David Nolan, former Presidential contender Mary Ruwart, and former Superior Court Judge James Gray. Root now joins the Board of “America’s Third Party” to provide leadership and management decisions through 2012.
Root said of his victory, “I am honored and humbled to have been the leading vote-getter out of a field of 13 candidates, that included the legends and celebrities of Libertarian politics. Now it’s time to move quickly to capitalize on the perfect moment in time for Libertarians, independents, fiscal conservatives, Tea Party activists, and any American voter looking for smaller government, dramatically reduced spending, lower taxes, fiscal responsibility and sanity. I will fight to turn the Libertarian Party into a ‘big tent’ for all of these voters. We must turn our party into a coalition of voters who will take back our country from big government, big unions, big corporations and corrupt incumbent politicians. Let the citizen revolution begin.”
Wayne Allyn Root is a regular guest on FOX News, a columnist at Newsmax.com and the Las Vegas Review Journal, as well as best-selling author of “The Conscience of a Libertarian.” For more information on Wayne, please visit: www.ROOTforAmerica.com.
Community Organizers Attack Israel
By Joy Tiz
In case you missed it the last few thousand times, it goes like this: use civilians to bait Israel into having to act in self-defense. Then squeal like stuck pigs when Israel finally gets fed up and uses force to defend itself. Hamas uses civilians the same way liberals use “the children” – as cannon fodder. Israel and Egypt have imposed a blockade of Gaza to prevent weapons from reaching the jihadists who keep attacking Israeli civilians. Despite what the Jurassic media claims, humanitarian relief is delivered to Gaza from Israel on a daily basis. Upon learning that the anti-Israel community organizer flotilla planned to crash the blockade, Israel directed the agitators to deliver their humanitarian aid to an Israeli port where it could be properly inspected for weapons before heading on to Gaza, which they defied, thus creating what the jihadi community calls a win-win for the bad guys. Charlie Sheen Headed for Jail
By James Hirsen
Charlie Sheen will spend time in a jail cell as part of a reported plea deal with prosecutors for an alleged Christmas Day domestic altercation with his wife, Brooke Mueller. The ‘Two and a Half Men’ star was arrested in Aspen, Colo., after an incident in which he allegedly brandished a knife. Earlier this year the actor had entered a not guilty plea to third-degree assault, menacing, and criminal mischief. A trial date has been set for July.
Sheen’s legal team has been engaged in behind-the-scenes talks with prosecutors in an attempt to obtain the shortest time behind bars for him, if he agrees to a guilty plea. Under the deal, he will plead guilty to a misdemeanor, which will likely place him in Aspen’s Pitkin County Jail for up to 45 days. The plea is expected be entered in court on June 7. It’s a safe bet that TV execs at CBS really care about the one big question: Will the star of the network’s #1 rated comedy be released in time to produce new shows for the fall season? [more...]
Woman Suing Google for Bad Directions
By Tim Connolly
Lauren Rosenberg, a Los Angeles native, is suing Google for medical expenses and punitive damages because the search giant’s mapping tool told her to walk down a highway. Rosenberg, who followed directions to walk down a state highway with no sidewalk or pedestrian paths, was hit by a car. Her complaint filing: “As a direct and proximate cause of Defendant Google’s careless, reckless and negligent providing of unsafe directions, Plaintiff Lauren Rosenberg was led onto a dangerous highway and was thereby stricken by a motor vehicle, causing her to suffer sever permanent physical, emotional, and mental injuries, including pain and suffering.” A writer for PC World, while noting that Google Maps, when viewed on a computer, does come with a warning that the route it offers may be devoid of sidewalks, lays into Rosenberg. “This warning does not show up in PDA’s and cell phones,” she writes. “I suppose Google figured that people who are smart enough to use Blackberries are probably also smart enough to not walk directly into the middle of traffic.” [more...]
