It’s Time to Throw Out King Obama

By Wayne Allyn Root

We’ve all seen the billboards with former President George W. Bush’s smiling face, and the words “Miss me yet?” But this President Obama and his cabal of socialists and fascists are so bad, so oppressive, so corrupt, I’m actually starting to miss King George III, the ruler of the original American colonies. King George III may have taxed the colonies too much with his Stamp Act, thereby inspiring the history-changing American Revolution. But as oppressive as King George was…he did provide something in return for the taxes: military protection and a navy. Yet our forefathers were willing to risk death and losing everything they owned to break free of an oppressive dictator, loss of freedom, and “taxation without representation.” The question for taxpayers today is…Are things really any better? Have we traded King George for a series of homegrown despots? [more...]

Poll Shows Americans Have it Right: Ditch Tenure, Raise Pay for Effective Teachers

By Kyle Olson

Americans are finally accepting the fact that the nation’s public education system is deeply flawed. And a new poll reveals that the public is ready to embrace a logical compromise that would effectively address the problem – do away with tenure protection for bad teachers and provide higher salaries for good teachers. According to the poll, conducted by Stanford University and the Associated Press, 78 percent of respondents believe it should be easier for schools to get rid of ineffective teachers. But 57 percent also believe good teachers deserve better pay. That means the time is right to start promoting plans to increase the professionalism of K-12 teachers. [more...]

The Obama Administration Fights For Sharia Law at the Expense of Public School Students

By Joseph Klein

I’d like to address a disturbing decision by the Obama Justice Department that has received very little publicity.  It is yet another example of the Obama administration’s policy of accommodation to Islamic Sharia law, irrespective of its impact on our own society. Attorney General Eric Holder has decided to sue a suburban Chicago school district for denying a Muslim middle school female teacher three weeks of unpaid leave to abandon her students and make a pilgrimage to Mecca. The teacher wanted to perform the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which every adult Muslim is supposed to make at least once in a lifetime if he or she is able to do so. For an administration that claims it regards a quality education for our public school students to be one of its highest priorities, it is willing to fight for the “right” of a Muslim teacher to abandon the students in her charge so that she can trek to Mecca? Whose Money Is It Anyway?

By Robert Ringer

As I have repeatedly pointed out, when politicians and media pundits talk about the “Bush tax cuts,” they clearly are implying that the normal, acceptable tax rates are whatever they were before President Bush reduced them. Claire McCaskill recently summed up this warped far-left viewpoint when she said, “If they think it’s okay to raise taxes for the embattled middle class because … we don’t GIVE more money to millionaires, it really is time for people in America to pick up pitchforks.” I understand that lefties like McCaskill are hopeless, but I often wonder if I’m the only person who finds it odd when a Republican legislator says, “You don’t raise taxes in the middle of a recession.” Such a statement implies that it’s okay to raise taxes when times are good. Sorry, but there’s no such thing as a good time to raise taxes. [more...]
