Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi paid the ultimate price for speaking “truth to power,” writes Fawzia Afzal-Khan, a professor and university distinguished scholar in the Department of English and director of women and gender studies at New Jersey’s Montclair State University. Her article, published by CounterPunch on October 24th, is entitled “Muammar Gaddafi: In Memoriam.” Khan admits to her unrequited crush on Qaddafi, whom she saw as a teenager living in Pakistan during his visit in 1974 to that country. Paula Deen Rebuts Michelle Obama Feud Rumors

Food Network star Paula Deen has issued a denial that has nothing to do with her famous recipes. Best known for her cable food show, Deen has been the focal point of recent news reports involving Michelle Obama in which Deen and the first lady had been engaged in an alleged food feud. In 2008 Mrs. Obama appeared on “Paula’s Party,” Deen’s television show, and together the two cooked up some fried shrimp and French fries. Just this month the Emmy Award-winning TV personality released a new book, “Paula Deen’s Southern Cooking Bible.” Michelle Obama’s “American Grown,” a proposed primer for healthy eating, is set to come out in April of 2012. The National Enquirer reported that Mrs. Obama was unhappy with the claim in Deen’s book that the first lady harbors a secret fondness for deep-fried Snickers, French fries, and chicken wings.
