God Loves Bill Maher

By James Hirsen

Bill Maher, who hosts HBO’s “Real Time,” has consistently demonstrated an antipathy for religion, religious expression and the Judeo Christian God. Maher’s attitude is typically condescending. At the same time, he tends to ignore the fact that the vast majority of faith-filled folks aren’t the extremists he cites as his examples. The liberties that Maher enjoys, including the freedom to be a believer one day and a doubter or denier the next, are the same liberties that are emblazoned in our nation’s birth certificate and are openly proclaimed to have come from God – the same God that the talk show host rails against. These “unalienable rights” are a gift from our Creator. Maher may not realize it at the moment, and he may even speak out against the Judeo Christian tradition that produced this exceptional country of ours, but he was one of the lucky ones, born into this land already equipped with rights implanted in him by the Creator. And no one has the authority to take away those rights from him or anyone else in this blessed land. Interestingly, those rights endowed by the Creator have allowed Maher to thrive in a highly competitive and dream-come-true business. [more...]

Heritage Foundation Features Yorktown University President

The Heritage Foundation will conduct a panel on the Obama Administration’s higher education policies on October 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.  Go here if you would like to view the event online. Participating on the panel are Dr. Richard Bishirjian, President of Yorktown University, an accredited for-profit Internet university and Dr. Richard Vedder, professor of economics at Ohio University. Both will examine President Obama’s higher education policies, the system of accreditation by which higher education institutions are granted access to U.S. government student loan programs, and the Obama Administration’s plans to dramatically increase college graduation rates while subjecting for-profit education providers to new regulations. Dr. Bishirjian is a critic of regulations proposed by the U.S. Department of Education.  His blog catalogs the detrimental effect of Obama Administration policies on higher education including unconstitutional proposals that violate the Commerce Clause and First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Call for interviews with Dr. Bishirjian. [more...]

SEIU Solicited Contributions from ‘Foreign Nationals’

By Kyle Olson

President Obama’s baseless attack on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce underscores the routine hyper-partisan attacks his administration has become known for. Obama’s allegation was that the Chamber has been using money from foreign members to influence this election. If the president and the Center for American Progress, which initially leveled the “foreign money” charge, were serious, they’d investigate the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), a brass knuckles, take-no-prisoners pro-Obama union that admitted in 2008 that it had an avenue to accept funds from “foreign nationals,” allowing them to have a voice in the American political process. Soros: “I’m Helpless”

By Joy Tiz

George Soros weighs in on the upcoming mid-terms claiming that he is helpless against the Republican “avalanche”: Soros, the billionaire financier who was an energetic Democratic donor in the last several election cycles but is sitting this one out, is not feeling optimistic about Democratic prospects. Evidently, Soros got the memo.  The Democrats can’t escape a drubbing in November… hence, the new strategy of raising expectations.  If Democrats can over-hype the likelihood of a Republican takeover of both houses, anything less will look like failure. NRTW Exposes DOL

By Dave Bego

Late Friday afternoon I received an article from Don Loos at the National Right To Work (NRTW) exposing yet another Obama administration attempt to snooker the American public and provide unions unprecedented cover to promulgate forced unionism. The proposed rule change by the Department of Labor (DOL) would eliminate 2007 union official conflict of interest reporting regulations, which falls on the heels of the DOL’s elimination of regulations that required unions to file reports disclosing union officer and union employee perks. All of this is aimed at absolving unions, but not employers, from then Senator John F. Kennedy’s most significant piece of legislation the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959. This site has repeatedly called attention to President Obama’s close union ties and his intent to create an insurmountable playing field in favor of his union handlers. [more...]
