Who wins the Iowa Caucuses is interesting for discussion and to see what a very small portion of the country have decided as the candidate they’d like to support.  But the result is no guarantee of what the future holds.  In fact, the winner has only become the nominee about half of the time. Yes, the conventional wisdom is that the candidate that can win Iowa and then New Hampshire will probably be the nominee.  But the fact is that “probably” is a very big word, especially these days.  Things have changed and the conventional wisdom of the establishment may not be as accurate as it once was. [more...]

 

 

The Latest From the Iowa Caucus – No One Can Pick a Winner

According to the latest numbers from Public Policy Polling, Rep. Ron Paul is still edging out former Gov. Mitt Romney for the lead in the polls leading up to the Iowa Caucus. According to the final Des Moines Register poll, Romney has the lead, with Paul in second and a surging former Senator Rick Santorum in third. Yet, that is also not quite right. Read the poll, and you find that if only the last two days are counted, Santorum is in second, and Paul in third. That poll can also be seen as off-base, as the Des Moines Register has it that 41% of caucus goers are still undecided on who will they vote for. [more...]

 

 

Hollywood’s 2011 Movie Attendance Falls to Record Low

Hollywood film executives are wondering what happened in the entertainment industry as movie revenues and attendance hit record lows. The total projected domestic gross for 2011 is $10.15 billion, which is down 4 percent from last year, according to Hollywood.com. Of greater concern, though, is movie theater attendance, which has dropped 4.8 percent over last year. An estimated 1.275 billion tickets have been purchased in 2011, which is the thinnest audience level since 1995. [more...]
