‘Gainful Employment’ Regulations Delayed

By Dick Bishirjian, Ph.D.

In an environment of such educational decline, moral and intellectual corruption and failure to serve the American nation by educating citizens for responsible citizenship, the Obama Administration proposes to close down for-profit higher education! On Friday the U.S. Department of Education announced that it would delay publication of new “gainful employment” regulations until 2011.  The regulations, which go into effect in July 2011, will limit the total amount of student loans that students may borrow at for-profit colleges to a percentage of the average income of their chosen vocations.  Public universities are exempt.  U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan believes that “some bad actors are saddling students with debt they cannot afford in exchange for degrees and certificates they cannot use.” The list of useless, intellectually weak, and unnecessary programs at public universities today far exceeds the number of such programs at for-profit colleges, but that hasn’t been picked up by the Obama Administration’s fine-tuned, socialist radar. Obama’s Aunt Zeituni: Social Justice and the American Heart

By Cory Emberson

What are we to make of the stunning demonstration of arrogance and entitlement by President Obama’s Aunt Zeituni Onyango? After living illegally in the U.S. since 2000 – defying two deportation orders, a felony – she was granted asylum four months ago. She lived illegally in public housing and received $700 monthly in disability payments – systems she had not paid into. And she continues to collect, in spite of wealthy relatives who can well afford to wean her away from public assistance. In an interview with Boston’s WBZ-TV’s Jonathan Elias, she was unrepentant. “If I come as an immigrant, you have the obligation to make me a citizen.” Elias reports that she doesn’t understand the public’s anger: “It’s a great country,” she said. “It’s nice to live here. You can do whatever you want when you live here.” Despite what she’s been given, Zeituni Onyango said flatly that she owes this country nothing in return. Interestingly, the president has not shown any private charity toward his aunt, and has not relieved the taxpayers’ burden of supporting her. [more...]

When Soros Attacks

By Joy Tiz

George Soros has wearied of being called an unrepentant Nazi collaborator.  Taking his cue from his idol, Karl Popper, Soros is unleashing his lawyers on anyone who dares speak the truth about the man who thinks he’s God.  His Orwellian “Open Society Institute” is based on the musings of Popper who reserved the right to suppress those who disagree with him to enforce his peculiar version of “openness.” Canadian Kathy Shaidle has been threatened by Soros’s attorneys for speaking long established truths about the unrepentant Nazi collaborator.  Shaidle’s article, “George Soros’ 8 Most Despicable Acts” (only 8?) posted on Newsrealblog.com was edited so as not to offend Mr. Soros’s delicate sensibilities. SEIU’s Insidious Tentacles

By Dave Bego

The Obama administration is philosophically bent on imposing socialism on America and is aggressively taking action to assure it happens in a short period of time at the behest of its handlers, unions, the SEIU. Like a giant ugly squid, the SEIU is directing the policy of the Obama administration to change this country from a capitalist society to a socialist society, all for the sake of power and money. This should not come as a surprise since Andy Stern, past President of the SEIU, openly embraced this transition in his book. [more...]

Is This a Job-Less Recovery or a Job-Loss Recovery?

By Dr. Gerard Lameiro

In a powerful editorial this week, Investor’s Business Daily talks about our current anemic recovery with high unemployment.  They point out that today’s unemployment rate of 9.6% is actually higher that when the recession ended in June 2009, a date that the National Bureau of Economic Research just announced this week.  Then, it was 9.5%.  So, in terms of unemployment, the recession might be over, but employment has not bounced back.  Some call this a “job-less recovery.” According to Investor’s Business Daily, since the recovery began in June 2009, the economy has actually lost 329,000 jobs. That makes this a JOB-LOSS recovery. In fact, the American economy requires a GDP growth rate of about 3% to create 1.5 million new jobs - the number of new jobs needed on a yearly basis to keep the unemployment rate from going up even more. The Electronic Pearl Harbor

By Ryan Mauro

Presages about the defeat or even the destruction of the U.S. by terrorists and rogue leaders are usually dismissed as bombastic rhetoric or self-induced illusions. The West’s enemies, however, are working towards the means to make their prophecies come true. Electro-Magnetic Pulse attacks with nuclear weapons detonated at high altitude and cyber warfare can enable ostensibly weak adversaries to deliver a crippling blow far greater than 9/11. Frances Fox Piven: Tea Party is ‘Expression of White Nationalism’

By Kyle Olson

Progressives – and socialists – will do anything to discredit the Tea Party movement.  Just ask Frances Fox Piven, who, along with her husband Richard Cloward, designed the theory of “collapsing the system” to force socialist principles – primarily redistribution of wealth – onto America. In a recent interview published on CommonDreams.org, Piven said this of the Tea Party movement: [more...]

Rauf Unplugged

By Joy Tiz

The vetting of flim-flam imam and million-dollar slumlord continues with no cooperation from the moribund mainstream media.  Nonie Darwish, who escaped from Islam,  has exhumed some off-the-record remarks by the “victory mosque” imam that will never find their way into dinosaur media reports.  The interview from June 20, 2006 unmasks Rauf’s long-range goals for the United States. The great “bridge builder’s” game plan includes creating an Islamic State without borders, which Rauf believes would exist today if not for Western interference. Is the Great Recession Over? Will the 2nd Great Recession Start in 2011?

By Dr. Gerard Lameiro

If the National Bureau of Economic Research pegs the Great Recession over in June 2009, I think most economists would agree the recession is over.  So, what can be said of the economy today?  Certainly, the recovery has been very weak.  Unemployment is still high at 9.6% with about 42% of the unemployed unable to get a job for 27 or more weeks.  This represents very high, long-term unemployment.  The U-6 metric of unemployment that includes additional categories of unemployed workers (such as discouraged workers and those who want full-time work but settle for part-time employment) is almost 17%.  Just think, one in seven Americans can’t find a full-time job.  That’s abysmal. D.C. School Reform: R.I.P.

By Kyle Olson

Reform of public schools in the District of Columbia is the biggest victim of the recent city election.  Mayor Adrian Fenty fell victim to Vincent Gray – and $1 million in spending by the American Federation of Teachers. The biggest winner in the election was not Gray, but rather Randi Weingarten, president of the AFT, the teachers’ union that represents D.C. school employees. The school chancellor, Michelle Rhee, was appointed by Fenty and was aggressive at reforming the district that had been spending the most per student but achieving some of the worst results in the nation.  She had pushed for eliminating ineffective teachers, rewarding the good ones and holding the adults more accountable for student outcomes. Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Goth Kids

By Joy Tiz

Parents, take heed!  If your son or daughter is into the dopey Goth thing, a vampire enthusiast or Evanescence fan, they will be unable to run for public office as conservatives when they grow up. Delaware senate nominee, Christine O’Donnell offered herself up as the pinata on an old Bill Maher show and confessed to having dabbled around with witchcraft in high school. Although the GOP establishment went into hysterics, O’Donnell’s approval rating with teenage girls shot up immediately following the revelation.  Stevie Nicks has not yet commented. While you must discourage your kids from going Goth, they can, however, embrace Marxism, as did O’Donnell’s opponent.  Going Marxist opens many doors, including the one to the White House. The Problem with Socialism is Socialism

By Dave Bego

Big government, totalitarianism, power, greed, central planning, redistribution of wealth, restrictions on personal freedom, no ownership of personal property, no self determination, government entitlements, no secret ballot elections, lack of incentive to succeed, government watchdogs, political elitism, government control and intervention, sameness, tyranny, violence, intimidation, coercion, pressure and social engineering are all characteristics of Socialism. History is replete with socialist regimes, like Nazi Germany and socialist Russia, which have imploded and failed. The simple problem is government or institutions created in or morphed into this likeness cannot create or invent and eventually fail. [more...]

Is Detroit Becoming the New Hollywood?

By James Hirsen

Over the past two years, more than 100 film and television productions have chosen Michigan as their preferred location in which to shoot. Why? It’s simple economics – the kind that Congress could use a quick lesson in. Simply put, tax rebates attract business and jobs. Michigan’s film incentive program offers up to a 42 percent tax rebate on any in-state expenses. As a result, entertainment companies have spent nearly $350 million this year in the Wolverine State and are likely to pay out $650 million by the year’s end. Most of the productions, around 80 percent, take place in the city of Detroit. [more...]

Citizen Revolution – One Nation Under Tea Party Revolt!

By Wayne Allyn Root

When I wrote my book, “The Conscience of a Libertarian,” I predicted that Obama’s radical Marxist agenda would lead to a citizen revolution, the likes of which had not been seen in this country since 1776. I predicted that this revolution to take back our country would be led by a coalition of Libertarians, conservatives, disgruntled Republicans, independents, taxpayers, small business owners, gun owners, patriots and Christians. That revolution now has a name: The Tea Party. And who are these new revolutionaries? Many of them are reenacting the ‘60’s revolution. They have evolved from peace and pot to pitchforks… from tie-dye to torches… from denim to deficit and debt…and from communes to condos. Today the Holy Grail isn’t Woodstock; it’s Washington. The Flim Flam Imam

By Joy Tiz

It would seem that the Left has vetted their favorite religious figure with the same diligence they used on their presidential candidate.  Faisal Abdul Rauf, leader of the “victory mosque” movement, has a long history of fraud and chicanery. At last finding a religion they like – the one that requires the killing of innocent Americans – liberals have canonized Rauf as the consummate “moderate Muslim” and “bridge builder.”  Once again, they have elevated a huckster with a shady past to idol status. Not only is Rauf a conscience-free slumlord, he is filching from the taxpayers, fraudulently enjoying the benefits of tax-exempt “church” status. [more...]

Whole New Political World

By John LeBoutillier

With the primaries over and the November 2 general election only seven weeks away, the Left is in a total tizzy over the success of Tea Party candidates in GOP caucuses and primaries. For example, here is a paragraph from today’s lead editorial in the New York Times: “Democrats, especially beleaguered incumbents and the White House, need to counter the toxic message of the Tea Party so voters have an alternative.”

“Toxic message?” What is “toxic” about demands for financial sanity? Or not spending more than we take in? Or not killing the business environment? The so-called mainstream New York Times – and even much of the GOP establishment – is missing something: the American people know that the United States of America is in dire trouble. It is now conceivable to think that the USA could fail; we could implode with debt and be reduced to a has-been, once-great power. [more...]

Imam Rauf on Israel’s Destruction

By Ryan Mauro

Newly discovered statements by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the Ground Zero mosque project, show he supports the destruction of Israel. His supporters may hold him up as a moderate, but he has spoken out in favor of a “one-state solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and he sees peace agreements with Israel as a means to that end. Is Obama Smarter Than a Communist?

By Wayne Allyn Root

Raul Castro, the leader of communist Cuba, just announced that Cuba is laying off 500,000 government employees. Bravo! It’s about time. Cuba is finally reforming their economy and headed in the direction of capitalism. Like China and the Soviet Union before it, Communist Cuba has finally figured out that everyone cannot work for government – at least not if you want your people to prosper, or your economy to avoid insolvency and bankruptcy. I only wish we could say the same for America. Incredibly, President Obama is headed in the opposite direction. Under Comrade Obama, America is expanding the number of government employees and the size of the welfare state. Obama must not have noticed that after years of government control of the economy, Cuba is an economic basket case with its citizens living in abject poverty and misery. [more...]

Why Has It Been a Tumultuous Primary Season?

By Dr. Gerard Lameiro

With incumbents often in trouble, establishment candidates facing tough challengers, and tea party activists heavily involved, tumultuous is a good word to describe what we have seen thus far.  The Wall Street Journal published a related op-ed piece this week that might help to answer these questions.  The article by Arthur C. Brooks (President of the American Enterprise Institute) and Paul Ryan (Congressman from the State of Wisconsin) offer their explanation of the true decisions Americans are making this electoral season.  According to Brooks and Ryan, behind all the campaigns and candidates and rhetoric, is really a fundamental question.  Do Americans want the traditional American system of free enterprise, limited government, and low taxes?  Or, do Americans want to replace our system with a European-style social democracy (also known as welfare state socialism)? A Television First: Spanish Univision Beats English Networks

By James Hirsen

It has never happened before. Reflecting the demographic change in America and the immigration policies that ushered it in, last week Univision took the coveted position of most popular television network in the 18 to 49 demographic. It is a striking indicator in the United States, a country that since its inception has been an English speaking culture. The 18 to 49 demographic is the group that advertisers love to target, and consequently it’s the one that’s most on the minds of entertainment executives. [more...]

Is “Persuasion of Power” the Demise of the SEIU?

The SEIU seems incapable of getting out of its own way. It’s not really surprising since they have nothing to sell and, even if they did, wouldn’t know how to sell it! This is truly an organization of frustrated ideologists who only understand intimidation and coercion as a business model. They can’t even play nice with rival unions! [more...]

Progressives Should Burn James Carville’s Book

By Kyle Olson

With all the uproar over a Florida minister’s threat to stage a burning of the Koran, it made me think that the real people that should be burning books are Democrats, and in particular, progressives. After Obama’s election, James Carville published, “40 More Years: How the Democrats will Rule the Next Generation,” and he boldly predicted the Republicans would wander in the wilderness for decades. He appears to have overshot his prediction by 3 decades plus 8 years.  Whoops! [more...]

Jerry Brown Neglects Duties to Seek Publicity

By James Hirsen

Jerry Brown is a busy guy, but unfortunately he’s not so devoted to his present gig. Rather than fulfilling his attorney general duties to the citizens of California, he has instead been seeking publicity with high-profile celebrity cases. Brown latched onto the Anna Nicole Smith case, the death of Corey Haim and the criminal case against Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s doctor. He even spent time on the TV couch with Dr. Phil. When for no apparent legitimate reason Brown dropped elder abuse cases, his opponent in the governor race, Meg Whitman, issued the following statement: “Jerry Brown has been using his official office to bolster his gubernatorial run, rather than protecting California’s most vulnerable citizens. Instead of going after defendants who are suspected of elder abuse, career politician Jerry Brown has chosen to pursue celebrity headlines.” [more...]

NLRB – National Labor Relations Board or NBLR – National Big Labor Resuscitation?

Another one of President Obama’s radical appointees, Craig Becker, is having his way with federal laws and is executing his boss’s promise to fundamentally change America. (more). Becker has been in his new Board position at the NLRB less than six months and is already playing a major role in reversing decisions and favoring unions to accommodate the President’s vision of a socialistic America and provide union paybacks! (more…).  Becker, much like Kagan, is another one of the President’s ideological lackeys who may be technically qualified, but lack the character, integrity and moral fiber to judiciously fulfill the duties of the position in the best interest of all Americans. Unfortunately, Congressional members on both sides of the aisle seem oblivious to these character flaws and how they will result in decisions counter to America’s core values and Constitution. Saddam Hussein Admitted He Planned on Nuclear Weapons

By Ronald Kessler

As President Obama drew the curtain on the Iraq war, liberal commentators were declaring the war pointless. “Sure, you know, violence is down from its peak during the civil war, but does anybody really think that lives of Iraqis are all that much better?” Rajiv Chandrasekaran, national editor of The Washington Post, told Chris Matthews on MSNBC. “If there had been no invasion, Saddam [Hussein] would still be in power,” Richard Engel of NBC said on the Today show. “He was probably getting more moderate… He was heading in a direction of accommodation.” In his speech on ending the war, President Obama seemed to have the same muddled concept of what the war achieved. His administration decries Arizona’s effort to arrest illegal immigrants as human rights violations while ignoring the fact that Saddam killed 300,000 people, used chemical weapons, and tortured his own people. The Coming GOP-Tea Party Train Wreck

By John LeBoutillier

This year’s elections are going to be a smash success for the GOP – and for conservatives and for traditional small-government, lower-tax conservatism – and especially for the Tea Party movement. Emphasis should be placed on the word “movement” because the Tea Party is not a political party. At least not yet. But the Tea Party in 2010 is simultaneously at war with the GOP establishment and helping the GOP versus the Obama-Pelosi-Reid Democrats this fall. The Tea Party movement has entered GOP primaries and caucuses and defeated the establishment seven times – most notably Utah, Nevada, Kentucky, Florida, Alaska – and are trying it yet again in Delaware on September 14th. This movement has nowhere to go in November except to vote for Republicans. It is the energy that will power the Republican to an incredible victory on November 2, 2010. [more...]

Unionists Call 9/11 Attacks ‘Blowback’ – Do National Leaders Agree?

By Kyle Olson

Members of the American Federation of Teachers, along with AFSCME, SEIU and several other national labor unions, are showing their true political stripes by joining the “Labor for Palestine” movement. These groups are not just calling for a Palestinian homeland in the Middle East and a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian/Israeli standoff. They’re suggesting that the creation of Israel has been a disaster for the Palestinian people. It’s clear that they don’t share the commitment to Israeli security that American presidential administrations – Republican and Democrat – have maintained since 1948. They are radically anti-Israel, and they offer no apologies for that. [more...]

Will Another $50 Billion Stimulus Kick-Start Our Economy?

By Dr. Gerard Lameiro

Jobs.  Jobs.  Jobs.  It’s at the top of all the headlines this week.  It’s the number one story and it’s being debated coast-to-coast.  President Obama is proposing another $50 billion stimulus package for roads, runways and railways to boost our economy - in other words, to create jobs by building our transportation infrastructure.  The president is also proposing a $200 billion tax credit for business in the form of a short-term research and experimentation tax credit that lasts through 2011.  That’s a temporary boost to business.  Will such a short-term business tax credit boost our economy?  Will another $50 billion stimulus package kick-start our economy?  [more...]

Canine-American Outraged Over Obama Slur

By Joy Tiz

The Canine-American community is deeply offended by Barack Obama’s off-prompter remarks in Milwaukee, which suggested that being compared to a dog is meant as an insult.  Canine advocacy groups were quick to point out that dogs are, in fact, loyal and trustworthy – traits that cannot be associated with human politicians. Word of this most recent affront spread quickly. Reactions ranged from disbelief to indignance.  Many in the Canine-American community and their supporters were quick to point out that this was not the first time the president has slandered them.  Obama audaciously referred to himself as a “mutt” not long after his election.  Most recently, he described mixed breed humans as “a mongrel people,” to the chagrin of mixed breed dogs who now wish to be known as “hybrids.” [more...]

Despite Hollywood Assist, Barbara Boxer Predicted to Fall

By James Hirsen

After being in office for 28 years, Barbara Boxer’s world is likely going to get rocked, despite a Hollywood producer railing against her opponent, Carly Fiorina. Prognosticators are predicting that California’s current senator may be unseated in the upcoming November elections by the former Hewlett-Packard CEO Fiorina. While folks are focused on the No. 1 issue, the economy, the nearly bankrupt Golden State stands as a poster child for the ugly consequences of unchecked Democratic spending. The Boxer campaign is attempting to take a bite out of Fiorina’s popularity by claiming that she laid off workers during her tenure at HP. Instead the attacks are serving to underscore the fact that Fiorina has not been a professional politician and has genuine experience in the business world. [more...]
